Colorado is a place for adventurers: towering mountains to climb, gorgeous mountain lakes, and no shortage of picture-worthy spots in its many national parks. Living in Colorado allowed me a lot of time experiencing the different landscapes that this state provides, and I’m happy to share some of my favorite (and most photographable) spots here.

If you’re set on getting hitched in the Centennial State but haven’t quite pinned down your perfect elopement spot yet, look no further than this list of the best locations for you to elope to Colorado.

NOTE: This list includes elopement locations does not include spots in Denver or its surrounding cities. Interested in one of those locations? Check out this list of elopement spots in Denver and the surrounding area

2. Hanging Lake, Glenwood Springs, CO

Hanging Lake is home to one of Colorado’s most stunning mountain waterfalls. Located at the end of a short 1.2 mile hike is this aqua-blue beauty that will be a beautiful backdrop for your elopement and your photos.

Pro Tip: Hanging Lake is one of the most gorgeous hikes in the state, but they are very strict about how many people are let in each day. Get there early, hike to the Lake for sunrise, and enjoy the views as you exchange vows!

3. Maroon Bells, Aspen, CO

Maroon Bells might be a location for the more adventurous couple; technically one of Colorado’s 14-ers, Maroon Bells is a drop-dead gorgeous hike. 10 miles west of Aspen, this spot is the most-photographed in all of Colorado, and makes a stunning spot for a sunrise or sunset elopement. If you’re planning to elope to Colorado, don’t forget about this spot!
